golden rod

eamon is attending a 3 day clay-animation camp (2 of his favourite things are clay and photography, so this is perfect), and, i got my big order of fleece from louet (it includes basics like merino and shetland but also gems like camel and yak and tussah silk. yum yum.) (thanks for organizing the order robyn) - so for the next few days i'm blitzing on dyeing and spinning. yesterday i picked golden rod in the backyard and dyed some shetland fleece and fibre locks a gorgeous yellow. i love picking "useless" and sometimes annoying weeds and turning them into something useful and beautiful.

I also dyed with goldenrod two days ago. I loved how it turned out (I did half yellow and half green with iron sulfate). It's amazing how different the same plant can turn out!
